Welcome to Episode 37.

In today's episode, we'll start off talking about a 9-year-old Belgian child that is graduating from college with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

We'll talk about how the AVMA is pushing to make it easier to apply for Veterinary School by opening enrollment in January instead of May. This will lead us into a discussion on whether we as an industry need more new veterinarians. Dr. Miller will share his insight about the matter and how corporate clinics are changing how new grads are hired and how as a small clinic it is harder to find new vets because of the expected salary fresh out of school. We'll dive more in-depth on how we run our clinic and how we manage duties between our Vets and our RVTs and how we don't want to just see wellness. We enjoy being a well-rounded clinic with routine wellness exams and specialized surgery. This ultimately makes for a well versed and knowledgable Veterinarian.

We'll talk a bit about a new, long term study where pet scientists are trying to find out if pet dogs affect human health in positive ways.

We'll talk about aqua-cremation and how the eco-friendly company is gaining popularity thought our area as well as get Dr. Miller and Angel's talk on the subject.

Pig Ears have been cleared by the CDC and FDA as a safe treat for dogs but the announcement comes with a long list of steps to take to make sure you and your family steer clear of salmonella such as disinfecting the area where your pet chewed on the pig ear and staying away from their kisses for at least an hour!

We will briefly talk about the popular Salt Lamps and how they have been causing sodium toxicity in cats who enjoy licking them.

Lastly, Thanksgiving is almost here and with that comes some Holiday Hazards to watch out for!  Dr. Williams out of our Hamilton Ridge location has a great Holiday Hazard video which outlines the most common sources of sickness in pets this time of year and some symptoms to look out for this year.
